The arrival of the corona virus brought for many, me included, fears of illness and uncertainty, as well as devastating isolation. To manage my anxieties I began a daily practice of cutting and pasting; an activity I find calming and deeply satisfying. Every day I cut up bits of discarded lino-cuts and stencils, and assembled them into quirky, capricious houses. Hours would pass with no obsessive thoughts of the malevolent miasma creeping over the land infecting the unsuspecting. This daily practice became a project when the stay-at-home order began on the first of April. Then, the single dwellings became avenues of houses with each house connected to the next by a tether, to represent the connections and kinship that endures, regardless of the physical detachment required during this disturbing and difficult time.
